The Marion County Library Sub-District #1 is hosting a Speaker's Series!  The first speaker will be Warren Witt, who will discuss the Taum Sauk Hydroelectric Power Station--Failure and Reconstruction.

Warren Witt is the Chief Engineer for the Ameren Hydroelectric Power Station.  He will present a program on the breach of the dam that created the greatest man-made disaster in the State of Missouri.  He will also talk about the rebuilding of the dam.

On Dec 14, 2005 a catastrophic failure in the upper dam sent gallons of water spilling on the area.  The plan was out of operation until it was rebuilt and reopened on April 21, 2010.  Come hear Mr. Witt discuss the value of hydroelectric power generation and the safety measures in place to prevent a repeat of the disaster in the future.
