Coffee Talk: Sneniece Smith
Date:
February 16, 2020
Time:
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM CST
Event Description:
TOPIC: OVERCOMING THE FEAR OF BEING GREAT
The February 16 speaker is Dr. Sheniece Smith Esq., Vice President - General Counsel at Hannibal Regional. Smith will talk about how she discovered her desire to be an attorney, the struggles she had reaching that goal, and how she is learning to completely embrace her “Black Girl Magic” to be great. The audience will learn as Smith shares what it means to face the fear of failure—how hard that journey can be—asking herself, Can I really do this? Starting from life on a ladder less privileged than many, she knows on a deep level what is required. She invites us into that world of desire, transformation, empowerment, and ultimately success.
Smith comes to Hannibal from the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, California where she was Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to the CEO. Before that, she worked for Warner Brothers preparing contracts for television and movie rights. In addition to being a highly-desired speaker with multiple engagements, she has a strong interest in pro bono work, specializing in the underserved: youth, vets, minorities. She has been admitted to the bar in Missouri, Illinois, California, and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Smith is now an integral member of the Hannibal Regional Healthcare System Leadership team and is responsible for providing legal counsel to Hannibal Regional.
The program is FREE and open to the public. Program partners include Wade Stables P.C., Second Breakfast Coffee Roasters and the Missouri Arts Council. The February Coffee Talk Lecture is in partnership with Jim’s Journey: The Huck Finn Freedom Center in celebration of Black History Month.
The Coffee Talk Lecture Series is designed to be relaxed, informal and informative. Through the Coffee Talk Lecture Series, the Hannibal Arts Council will present community members speaking on various topics, including travel, history, health, food, well-being and yes, art. The series is designed on the premise that everyone has a story and a wide variety of interests and are sometimes willing to share that with an audience.
